In the Beginning:
My name is Morteza Faraji, and I was born in the town of Ardabil, Iran, in the year of 1956. All my life I have been around rugs. My father decided to start his own business in the rug weaving industry. In my early years, he built a factory for his rug weaving business right beside our home. The family business kept growing as more and more people purchased our family rugs. After a few years of developing a good reputation, my father started to work with rug purchasers from oversees.
The Growing Years:
In 1977, I came to the United States without knowing what to expect. As the years passed on, I worked at random jobs, taking whatever was available at the time, anything to help with the expense of my education. In 1988, I decided to follow in the footsteps of my father, and I started importing handmade rugs. At first I was selling rugs on consignment, until I could find a store that suited my needs. At last I managed to procure the perfect cozy space in Occoquan, Virginia, where I have been operating Artaville Rugs for over two years. I travel to Iran twice a year in order to visit my family and handpick the rugs that get sold in my store. Every rug is chosen because of its quality and uniqueness. Since I handle all my own importing, you know that you will be getting the best price available anywhere!
